I'm talking about length. At what point does a story become long? Any suggestions?

I would say up to around 10,000 words but there are no set down rules. Look at the flow of the storytelling does it need more or less? Have you covered everything you need to? Does it feel better if you slice it up into chapters? Does that help with dialogue, pov, and reaching a conclusion?
